MISSION STATEMENT of the Group of European former Ministers, Ambassadors & Senior Officials*

This Group’s purpose is to achieve maximum impact on European political leaders and their decision making by providing focused and timely public commentary on events and developments in the Middle East, most notably on the situation in Palestine / Israel.
The Group does so by urging Europe's governments and the EU institutions to take effective action towards:
ending violations of human rights, including the destruction of homes, property and livelihoods;
ensuring full access to humanitarian aid in accordance with international humanitarian principles and law;
respecting, protecting and implementing the decisions of the judicial bodies established under international law, notably the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court; and
promoting a sustainable two-state solution in the interests of all peoples and in accordance with UN resolutions and the rulings of relevant UN bodies.
In pursuing its aims the Group liaises with like-minded officials - both current and former ones - from the EU Member States and EU institutions, along with Members of the European Parliament and Member States’ parliaments.
